Contest’ is a recycled art competition and exhibition that is open to all artists. You are invited to create holiday or winter themed works of art using discarded or reused materials, and compete for prizes.

Practice the 4Rs - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repurpose to help with zero waste for our planet. The ‘Rejoice & Recycle Holiday Ornament Contest’ is sponsored by the Bowie Chamber of Commerce and IESI.
Eligibility
Anyone, of any age.
Original work – not previously exhibited.
One entry per individual, or collaborative group.
Collaborative projects are encouraged.
Rules of Entry
- Art must be fabricated from 100% found, reused, repurposed or recycled materials (excluding glue, paint, etc…).
- All art must be display-ready. Construction must be strong and secure.
- All 2-D art should be framed and wired for hanging.
- Art must have a completed Entry Form securely attached.
- Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
- Honorable Mentions will be awarded for other outstanding work.
- All artists will receive awards for excellence in art.
Criteria for Judging
- Theme
- Artistic creativity and originality (50%)
- Skillful use of 100% discarded or reused materials (50%)
Submission of Entries
Entries must be delivered to:
309 N. Smythe Street, Bowie TX 76230
Starting Sept. 27 through November 12
Weekdays between 8-5 pm.
Notification
All entries will be exhibited.
Announcement of winners will be Thursday, November 18, 2010
Exhibition in Display windows of Heard’s Hardware building.
Continuous viewing though Jan 1st, 2011
Art Must Be Picked Up
Arrangements must be made through the Bowie Chamber of Commerce the week of January 3-7, 2011, between the hours of 8 am – 5pm.
Note: Artwork projects remaining after 5pm January 7, will be recycled.
Insurance: Due care will be taken to insure safety of artwork during handling and exhibition. The Bowie Chamber of Commerce, nor IESI assume no responsibility for loss or damage that may occur. By entering competition, entrants accept all liability.
Copyright: Photographic reproduction of entries may be used or copied by the Bowie Chamber of Commerce and IESI, without further agreement by the artist, for exhibition and /or publications (print or online). Artwork may not be credited.
